Shortcuts

I recently stumbled upon a nifty shortcut on TikTok, and at first, I didn’t give it much thought. However, as the day went on, I realised just how handy it could be. This incredibly simple shortcut allows you to start playing an Apple Music playlist with ease. You might be wondering, “What’s the big deal? I can just open the Music app, scroll to the playlist, and hit play.” True, but let’s count those steps:

  1. Open the Music app.

  2. Scroll to the Downloaded section of your library.

  3. Select Playlists.

  4. Finally, choose the playlist you want to play.

That’s four steps, which isn’t exactly rocket science, but why not simplify it to just one step? Especially if you’re like me and enjoy listening to music in the car and sometimes you can’t be bothered to connect the CarPlay . In that case, it’s crucial to ensure your playlist is downloaded to your phone to avoid streaming over your mobile network. This shortcut makes that process a breeze!

So let’s get started.

  1. Open the Shortcut application.

  2. Create a new Shortcut (name it accordingly)

  3. Search for the Play Music action within the Music category.

  4. Once added, select the Music action and scroll through and select the required Playlist.

  5. Once you’ve found the playlist the way to add the playlist is to select the icon just to the left of the Cross icon.

  6. With the playlist added to the Shortcut you can also select how you want to listen to the playlist by selecting the disclosure triangle and then select Shuffle settings and Repeat settings.

  7. Once all set then the final step is to add the Shortcut to the Home Screen, this can be done by selecting the name of the Shortcut and then select the Add to Home Screen at the bottom of the list.

  8. You can now specify the Colour, Symbol or image of the Home Screen icon.

  9. Select Add when done.

And that’s it, you new Shortcut will appear on your Home Screen. Enjoy.
